Tools you will need:
- Heavy-Duty Vacuum
- Screwdriver
- Broom
- Brush
- Respiratory mask
What to do:
- Turn off power to the HVAC system.
- Take the screwdriver and remove the vents from the walls. Now use the brush and clean the vents thoroughly. If the dust and grime are too much for the brush, you can soak the vents in a mixture of soap and warm water. Then wipe off the grime. Repeat for all vents.
- Now take the Heavy-Duty vacuum and begin to vacuum the air duct, make sure to reach in there to get as much dust as possible. (tip: If the air ducts have not been cleaned for some time, you may encounter heavy loads of dust and mildew build-up. So, a respiratory mask is highly recommended) Repeat for all air ducts.
- Clean the vents in the ceiling. If you can’t reach them with the vacuum, use the broom to dust the vents. Like the previous step, consider wearing the respiratory mask. All different types of particles will fall on you. Repeat for all ceiling vents.
